Great Wood

This acrylic painting, delicately outlined in pen, is inspired by the contour lines of Great Wood in the Quantock Hills, Somerset. 

Flowing, organic shapes capture the undulating rhythm of the hills and valleys.  A soft, earthy palette of muted greens, warm ochres, dusky pinks, and deep teals reflects the natural tones of the woodland and surrounding countryside.  The fine pen detailing enhances the sense of movement, guiding the eye through the layered elevations.  This piece evokes the tranquility of ancient woodlands, where time and terrain shape the land in gentle, sweeping curves.

The artwork measures 50 x 50 cm and was completed in 2023.
